Support Afghan Refugees Arriving in Louisville

Dear Members,

The Jewish community, in conjunction with Kentucky Refugee Ministries, has come together to help the Afghan refugees arriving in Louisville. WE NEED YOUR HELP! The Temple will be co-sponsoring a family and need our Temple family to come together and help an Afghan family to start to rebuild their lives.

We need volunteers, donated supplies, household items, and monetary donations for newly arriving Afghan refugees.

We will be accepting the following items (new or gently used) at The Temple the next two weeks. Please only bring items on this list and that are in good condition. The items can go in the donation bins inside The Temple.

  • This is just a start of what is needed. We are trying to coordinate our Temple volunteers and will be sending out additional information soon.

    In addition to our co-sponsoring an Afghan evacuee family settling in Louisville, there will be some community-wide opportunities. Here is one coming up this week: Thursday, Oct. 14th 1:30-3:00pm and 6:00-7:00pm, the JCC will receive donations of clothes, dishes and other kitchenware. You can drop off your items at the “Sports Door” with a small awning on the far side of Anshei Sfard building. Please wear a mask.
