MEMBERSHIP

Membership can be so much more than worship services and tickets to events.
It can be your connection to your Jewish heritage and the greater Jewish community around the world.

Benefits of Membership

As a member of The Temple, you are part of a family, a connected group of friends, a vibrant local Jewish community, and the Jewish world. Members of The Temple enjoy the following exclusive benefits:

Membership Options and Financial Commitments

We strive to offer a number of programs, support groups, and services to fulfill our mission and to meet the needs of our members and community. As part of our Covenant of Membership, we ask that each member of our congregation support the activities and maintenance of our Temple and the services we provide to the Greater Louisville community with an annual financial commitment.

It is The Temple’s goal to make membership affordable for all and we are committed to creating a community where all congregants feel welcomed, valued, and vested in our congregation regardless of their financial situation. No one is ever refused membership in The Temple on the basis of one’s ability to make or fulfill a financial commitment. The Financial Commitment and Payment Authorization Form offers you opportunity to indicate a lower amount if unable to fulfill the suggested commitments or a higher amount if able and willing.

Investing in our Future: The Free Will Financial Commitment Model

We are fortunate to enjoy an engaged and supportive community at The Temple. Accordingly, we’re always pivoting to ensure the sustainability of our synagogue for future generations.

Temple leadership studied how to re-engage young Jews in Temple life – in light of demographics, their aspirations and other financial models – and reached two key conclusions. A large opportunity exists to attract new members under 40 and a Free Will financial commitment model is a viable option.

Under our Free Will financial commitment pilot, we offer a prospective member under 40 a suggested financial commitment, and accept what he or she can, no questions asked. Thus far, we’re thrilled with the results and if you’re under 40, we hope it simplifies your decision to join The Temple!

The Temple Adath Israel Brith Sholom has built a proud legacy over 175 years in Louisville, with a mission to enrich lives in our community. Whether you are looking to gain spiritual guidance and strength, engage in opportunities to repair the world, celebrate life’s joyous occasions, participate in a caring community, learn Jewish teachings and traditions, or simply join together with others in Reform Judaism, we welcome you! The Temple continues to innovate and offers you a place to be inspired. Thank you for visiting us and we look forward to welcoming you into our congregation and our community!
