WRJ Book Club
Friday, October 23 at 10:00 am
Please join the WRJ/Sisterhood Book Club in The Temple Fishman Library for interesting discussions. On Friday October 23, we will meet at 10:00 am to discuss The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. Wikipedia writes, “The Correspondent is an epistolary novel . . .following the letters and emails of a retired lawyer and her chief clerk sent between 2012 and 2022….This fascinating novel centers on Sybil Van Antwerp, a retired lawyer living alone in Annapolis. She is the divorced mother of two living adult children and one who died when he was eight. She was adopted, and is unsure of whether to learn about her birth parents. She has a lifelong practice of writing letters, including to family members, work associates, and authors such as Joan Didion, Larry McCurtry, and Ann Patchett. All the while, she is gradually losing her eyesight, and there are a series of unsent letters written to an unknown recipient.”
Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings. We offer the option to attend on Zoom, if you are unable to join us in person. Please contact Susan Waterman at susan.waterman1@gmail.com with questions, comments, suggestions for future book selections, or to receive the Zoom link.
