WRJ/Sisterhood Book Club – How to Read a Book

Please join the WRJ/Sisterhood Book Club in The Temple Fishman Library for interesting discussions. We will meet on Friday, May 29 at 10:00 am to discuss Horse by Geraldine Brooks. Amazon writes, “Horse is a historical fiction novel that intertwines three timelines: the story of a legendary 19th-century racehorse named Lexington and his enslaved groom, Jarret; a 1950s art dealer’s obsession with a painting of the horse; and a modern-day story of a Black PhD student and a white Smithsonian scientist who connect over the horse’s skeleton and painting, exploring themes of race, art, and American history. The novel connects the past and present through the enduring legacy of the horse, examining the brutality of slavery and the persistence of racism in America.”
