Shavuot is traditionally considered to be the anniversary of the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Tikkun Leil Shavuot is the custom of staying up the entire night of Shavuot studying with the community to re-experience standing at Sinai. I Am Right and Just, and So Are You!

Can we still create pluralistic and diverse connections and coalitions? We will explore the idea that I am not always right, nor just, and the need to find truth in what people I do not agree with believe. We will use our Jewish tradition, values, and texts on our journey. We will ask ourselves if the moment of receiving the Torah, when all Israel answered in one voice and agreed on everything, was a moment for which we continue to strive.

Remembering Our Time at Sinai: Receiving the Torah in Each Generation

Join Rabbi Matt for a special Tikkun Leil Shavuot, as we explore the mystical experience of receiving the Torah atop Mt Sinai; a moment our tradition teaches for which each of our souls stood. At Sinai, we didn’t just receive the Torah, we experienced it. We saw what should have been heard, and heard what should have been seen, as the boundaries of reality as we know it began to blur. As we explore this incredible moment, we’ll begin to uncover how that experience continues to shape the Torah each of us brings into the world today.
