Please join the Temple Adult Education Committee for a BRIEF and INFORMAL educational session on SB 116, the Hate Crime Bill. This Bill is designed to specifically address crimes motivated by hatred of the victim’s race, gender identity or expression, religion, sexual orientation, and also includes disability protections. Kentucky is one of the few states to not offer such protections.
Our very own Senator Karen Berg, a sponsor of the bill, will join us via zoom. The language of the bill is here, https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/record/21rs/sb116.html. It currently has bipartisan sponsorship of nearly 25% of the Senate, including Dr. Berg, but the bill may stall. After the education session, if you feel so motivated, you can contact your legislator to support the bill. How to contact your legislator: https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/Legislators/contact_legislator.html. If you would like to know who that person is, you can do so here. https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/findyourlegislator/findyourlegislator.html.
