Shavuot at The Temple

Join Rabbi David on Thursday, May 25 at 6:00 pm as we celebrate our Confirmation Class of 2023/5783 during our Erev Shavuot Service. Shavuot is traditionally considered to be the anniversary of the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. We read the Ten Commandments and share beautiful music on the theme of Torah.

Mazel tov to our Confirmation Class of 2023:

  • Abigail Berger, daughter of Michelle Elisburg and Nathan Berger
  • Ezra Fouts, son of Amy and Nathan Fouts
  • Julia Goldstein, daughter of Orit and Jon Goldstein
  • Sam Gross, son of Jenny Johnston and Michael Gross
  • Henry Hasselbacher, son of Lauren and David Hasselbacher
  • Caroline McCurry, daughter of Anna Feitelson and Terry McCurry
  • Parker McCurry, son of Anna Feitelson and Terry McCurry
  • Sarah Rothballer, daughter of Stacey and William Rothballer
  • Mason Schneider, son of Tara and Dan Schneider
  • Mark Zilberman, son of Julia and Dmitriy Zilberman

Tikkun Leil Shavuot is the custom of staying up the entire night of Shavuot studying with the community in order to re-experience standing at Sinai. Here at The Temple, we have created the tradition of studying after the service.

Topic this year: Why and How Did We Receive the Torah? Did we want it? agreed to it? forced into it? steal it? will examine what exactly we are celebrating on Shavuot and why are we celebrating? We will enjoy good Torah, good company, and great cheese cakes.
