Repro Shabbat falls on the Shabbat when Jews read Mishpatim, the Torah portion with the verses that form the basis of the Jewish approach to reproductive freedom. Repro Shabbat is an opportunity for congregations, organizations, and communities to celebrate the critical importance of reproductive health access, reproductive rights, and reproductive justice, and to learn more about Judaism’s approach to these issues. This year we will be having several events to support and learn about reproductive rights in Kentucky.
Join us on Friday, February 17 for Erev Shabbat Services at 7:00 pm as we welcome special guest speaker, Heather Gatnarek, Senior Staff Attorney for the ACLU of Kentucky who is representing EMW Women’s Surgical Center, and along with Planned Parenthood in their state lawsuit challenging abortion bans.
Additionally, join us on Saturday, February 18 during Shabbat Morning Services at 10:30 am as we welcome special guest speaker, Aaron Kemper, one of the lawyers in a case seeking to block Kentucky’s abortion restrictions based on the Jewish faith and Kentucky’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
