Louisville Orchestra: Book of Travelers
Thursday, January 9 at The Temple | 7:30 pm
Music Director Teddy Abrams pairs two compositions (written over 175 years apart) that were both inspired by the travel of the composers.
Called “one of the finest, most searching songwriters of the day,” by The New Yorker, Gabriel Kahane brings a newly orchestrated set of songs of empathy to our stage. While searching for connections between Americans on a cross-country train journey, Kahane found inspiration in fellow travelers. This exceptional musical event also features the final symphony of Romantic-era composer Robert Schumann. Schumann wrote this symphony after traveling on the Rhine river to his new job and new life when he was 40 years old. Tickets: $20 in advance $25 at the door; $12 for students with I.D.
