Holocaust Torah Mantle Shabbat
June 14 at 7:00 pm

The Holocaust Torah scrolls have quietly taken their place at The Temple in our Archives. Each scroll mantle has been stitched with love and remains a symbol of strength and human perseverance.

On Friday, June 14, during Shabbat services, please join the members of The Temple and the Louisville Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild (ANG) who lovingly stitched the covers. Funding for the materials and assembly was provided by the Ann and Don Roth Fund. The design of Hebrew letters rising from flames was commissioned, canvases were drawn, and yarn was purchased. Over several years, the honor of stitching the canvases and completing the project was provided by ANG and Temple volunteers. Then came COVID. The completed Holocaust Torah scrolls adorned with their beautiful new covers now reside in The Temple Archives. Please join us to view the finished project, to celebrate the many hands that participated in the project and to kvell at the beauty of this endeavor. Shabbat services will be followed by an Oneg Shabbat where the community can eat, mingle, and cheer the accomplishments of the stitchers.
